Sunday slowness
A breakfast that lasts two hours, simply because it can.
Light the candle before you put the water on for coffee. Lemon peel against the smell of a brand-new morning.
Make something warm. Slowly. Butter melting before the eggs go in, bread toasting in a pan instead of a machine. The smell of breakfast and the smell of the candle will hold one conversation together.
Read something on paper. A poem from a slim book, a piece from an old magazine, anything that makes no mention of today.
The rest of the week begins only when the flame says so. Not before.
