Natural scented candles
A candle looks simple, but what it is made of decides how it burns, how it smells and how long it lasts. Elenvelle pours only in 100% natural soy and beeswax — no paraffin. Here is why that difference matters.
What is in a scented candle?
Three things: wax (the fuel), the wick and the fragrance. The wax decides how clean and even the candle burns; the fragrance decides the character. At Elenvelle the wax is 100% natural soy and beeswax, and the fragrances are premium-grade, composed in Grasse.
Soy wax vs paraffin
Paraffin is a cheap petroleum by-product. Soy wax is plant-based and renewable, burns at a lower temperature and therefore more slowly, and gives a cleaner, steadier flame with less soot. For the same size, natural wax often means a longer, calmer burn.
Why add beeswax?
Beeswax makes the candle harder and more stable so it holds its shape better — important for our sculptural pours. It carries fragrance beautifully and burns long. The soy + beeswax blend gives the best of both: a clean burn and a firm, sculptural candle.
What to look for in a clean candle
Look at the wax (soy, coconut or beeswax instead of paraffin), the wick (cotton or wood, no lead core) and transparency about the raw materials used. Every Elenvelle is hand-poured in small batches in Holten, the Netherlands, so each batch is checked personally.
Frequently asked
- Are soy wax candles better for air quality?
- Natural wax burns at a lower temperature and gives off less soot than paraffin. Always keep the wick trimmed (about 5 mm) and allow a little ventilation for the cleanest burn.
- Do natural candles burn longer?
- Often, yes. Because soy wax burns at a lower temperature, a natural candle of the same size usually lasts longer than a paraffin one.
